weekend project

I love this simple screenprint on plywood by Sandra Thomsen. I'm going to see if some spray paint and a stencil will produce something similar. Watch this space...

Telegramme / Bat For Lashes

Friday, 1 February 2013

Another great print by Telegramme. This one is especially good because of the connection Bat For Lashes has with Brighton. I hope to own and hang it on my wall one day soon!

Ink'd: Andy Doig

Thursday, 1 March 2012

The Andy Doig show 'Fun Affair' at Ink'd Brighton is so worth a visit. There isn't a piece there that I wouldn't happily adorn my walls with! Andy's work looks fantastic against the rough interior of the gallery. With all lighting for sale, and a buy 3 for £500 on the Raymond Revue bar Stars, you'd be a fool not to check it out!

I've just come across the work of Todd St. John. His work spans many different mediums, including drawing, sculpture, photography, printmaking and animation. He also founded New York studio HunterGatherer. Lovely stuff.

Found

Wednesday, 2 June 2010

While away in Bath last week we came across this great new shop Found. So many things in there I wanted to buy! The couple who run it were so lovely. Really impressively decked out with interesting antique furniture for displaying the stock. I especially liked the old gym frame holding the wrapping paper! I hope they do really well and open another one in Brighton...

Brighton Freak Show prints

Saturday, 8 May 2010

Just been to pick up my prints from the Brighton Freak Show exhibition! Work by Johnny McCulloch and Matt Buchanan.

Freak Show

Tuesday, 27 April 2010

My good friend Johnny Mac has teamed up with Ollie Munden to showcase some of Brighton's finest image making talent at Freak Show. Artists included are Luke Insect, HelloMarine, Steve Wilson, Yoko Michishita and Erla Maria to name a few. Opening night is this Friday and will then run every saturday throughout May between 10am and 5.30pm. Get on down there if you can!

Aardvark letterpress

Friday, 23 April 2010

New Aadvark letterpress print! Love it. My husband bought it as a present on my birthday while we were having a fab day in the sun, supporting our friends who were running in the first ever Brighton marathon. We took an ice cream break on the seafront between miles 12 and 24 (hard work supporting) and walked past one of my favourite shops- Castor + Pollux. Saw this fantastic print in the window and had to have it! Now off to buy a frame...

Wall adornment

Thursday, 25 March 2010

The screen printing process is one that I have such fond memories of at university. I would love to do some prints of my own soon. In the mean time, I am on the look out for some prints to add to my small collection. Etsy have some great finds. I like this one by Mengsel design.

Counter-Objects

Monday, 22 February 2010

Found this online design shop that sells some lovely stationery, posters and homeware, as well as design books and magazines. Worth a look.

Hello Marine!

Just purchased this print by Marine, a French illustrator based in Brighton. I love her work.

AMAZING. I had trouble believing these paintings weren't photographs! I'm in awe of this artists' skill. More here http://www.alyssamonks.com/

Glug

Saturday, 14 November 2009

I went to creative networking event Glug last night. Hosted by Crush and Agency Rush at The Basement. I enjoyed a complimentary drink on arrival, and then was pleased to bump into the lovely Jackie from Jo Brooks PR. It was a great evening with live art and a very funny talk and showcase of work from Mr Bingo. Looking forward to the next one already...

Live art by Mark Taplin, David Callow, contributions from everyone, a collaboration between Pomme Chan and Jirayu Koo, Pinky.
