I think I've mentioned before how good my brother is at buying me presents. These COS gloves and some gorgeous Falke socks where among my recent christmas presents, both of which have had tons of wear already. These gloves are fab- especially since my coat has 3 quarter length sleeves (= freezing wrists). Also, no need to wip them off to answer your iPhone!

Yes! Truly, this little bottle of powder delivers a 'just got out of bed look' that won't fall flat 10 minutes after you walk out the door! I have no idea how it works but who cares? It does the job! My amazing hairdresser friend recommended it after I complained that my hair is too heavy for backcombing and feared I would have flat hair forever... Kevin Murphy to the rescue! There are a few volumising powders around. My local salon (Mooch, Brighton) sell this one as well as another grittier version by OSIS.

But after scrolling through the Topshop Tumblr site, I think I'm turning. These ladies have managed to work it well. I admit, I am fickle when it comes to fashion.

My newest obsession- the black leather shopper. You'd think somewhere out there would be an affordable version wouldn't you? But no. Everywhere I look, this simple bag is in my opinion, overpriced. Which leads me onto another of my frustrations; the price of bags in general. If you, like me, don't want to buy a bag from the high street and desire a better made, well designed bag that will last longer than a year (yes Zara, that's aimed at you), then it would seem you need at least £600 to spend. Looks like I'll be saving up for a while to come.

Amici di Peroni

Last month I was invited to attend Amici di Peroni (Friends of Peroni) - an evening hosted by Gianluca Longo (style director of London's Evening Standard). I had a great time! It all took place in Jubilee Square, Brighton. On arrival we were served pints of Nastro Azzuro and socialised with the other invitees. The square had been transformed into a stylish dining area where we were seated and served great Italian food and of course more beer! Thanks Peroni!

Usually I would have folded by now and had a fringe and/or a bob cut in, but I'm fighting the urge and trying to enjoy the versatility that having longer hair brings. This 'do' has made me feel even more committed to leaving it alone. I especially love the added accessory by Eddie Borgo.

Really like this top from H&M- especially the way it scoops up at the back, and the covered button detail. Not sure why, but I had my sights set on getting a pair of really high waisted, wide leg trousers. Found some! Sadly a size too small but I was willing to suffer hindered breathing for them. Although, not being able to sit down or eat was too much to bear. So reluctantly I considered taking them back, until I realised they could be easily adjusted as the style has a fold over on the waistband. So I unpicked the stitching and gave myself a bit of breathing space...

After first seeing this Carven collar a while ago, I thought I'd buy a cheap white shirt that I could cut the collar off. I found one in the Gap sale for £4.99, but then really liked the shirt so decided against hacking it up. Some time later I managed to burn a great big hole it whilst ironing! I blame the iron. Anyway, all was not lost... Et voila! My 'Carven' collar was born. Please ignore my shoddy workmanship. You can't see the frayed edges once it's tucked in!

With the christmas money I was given, I had the opportunity to buy something I'd never usually be able to afford. The Acne Draw boots!!! For a week I gazed at the picture on the Acne site, as well as the steep price tag... When I finally plucked up the courage to order them they had gone into the sale! Hooray! So I had change left over- result. Needless to say I am over the moon with these little beauties. The shape, the height, the leather... I'm sure it won't be long until I'm obsessing about some other unattainable item, but for now I'm satisfied. Really.

Crumbs! What a month!

Anyway, onto some exciting new looks from Topshop's Spring 2011. They remind me of the Masha Ma collection I witnessed at Fashion Week (no photographic evidence sadly). Me and white don't have a great relationship. I'm not convinced it suits me, plus white needs to stay spotless to make the right impression, and with 3 little boys my 'spotless' turns to 'grubby' in no time at all... But I love the shirt dress and the bag in the first pic is lovely. I really like the orange nail varnish teamed with monochrome. I'd add orange lips too, but that's just me... Love a bit of lippy.

My mum had so many great clothes and shoes I wish she'd have saved for me! Sadly alot of them have been lost between moves. Glad this blouse was still hanging in her wardrobe though! It has a pussy bow tie but I like it wearing without it at the moment. There's a few other bits I've claimed and will post about them soon... Also, can't wait till it warms up to wear these sandals again, so on with the grey school socks!

Ever since the Dove shoot (more on that soon), I've been after OPI's lovely nude shade 'Tickle My France-y'. Unfortunately I couldn't get hold of it and soon forgot the mission. Then, in Boots recently I found Revlon's 'Grey Suede'. I usually steer clear of anything with a shimmer in it, but this has only a slight one that really helps the colour not look so flat. I think these digits will go well with some smokey eyes and nude lips...

In the Line of Beauty

This month Somerset House will host an exhibition celebrating the work of illustrator Rene Gruau. Most famous for his groundbreaking artwork for Christian Dior, his style has influenced many fashion illustrators since. The exhibition will showcase original artwork by Gruau, as well as specially commissioned pieces by five UK based illustrators. One of which is Brighton's very own print designer and illustrator, Sarah Arnett!

The exhibition runs from 10th November 2010 - 9th January 2011. Not to be missed!

Approaching Minimarket's exhibition stand, I was of course excited to say the least. And it was such a pleasure meeting Tess from the label, who was really pleased to see me wearing the boots! She informed us that there is now a defusion line- Mini For Many (cute!). So now it's that little bit more accessible... Apologies for some of the slack photos, I think all the excitement got the better of me.

Witness below, a mere fraction of the gorgeousness that is Zoe & Morgan's new collection. I fell in love with just about everything. Myself and Rhonda from Nola Boutique, went up to London yesterday to check out the exhibitors at Somerset House and do a bit of jewellery buying for the shop. Rhonda put in a great order so we can all get our hands on some of these amazing pieces at Nola soon! I still have my heart set on the 'love' ring which I posted about here, but nudging their way forcefully into the obsessive pocket of my brain, are the beautiful, yet edgy, flower skull rings. My Christmas list is looking cramped already.

Yesterday I joined the fashion loving hoards at London Fashion Week. I had a ticket for the Masha Ma show at the Vauxhall Fashion Scout venue (thanks to Shini at Park & Cube). After the show I found some recent fashion graduates exhibiting their work. Amongst them was the lovely Florencia Kozuch. I thought her work was beautiful. I love the sheer fabric and beaded detail. I regret not taking full length images of the garments- I was too busy chatting with her! The knitwear she's wearing in the bottom pic is from her new collection. Just lovely.

I'm pretty sure I'm not alone in cringing at the name 'bumper bootie'. That aside, I really love these boots by Opening Ceremony. And when you consider that minus the platform, they're not very high at all, I think it's fair to say that these are a very practical boot (apart from the suede but we'll ignore that).
